La Paz 27-28-29.11.2009

Hello,

In La Paz we spent 2 nights in the Loki hostel, a party hostel with a lot of back packers.
On 27th evening we were almost tired from our trip coming from Copacabana. During the 28th, we had a rest day till the evening where the party started in the hostel and ended in a small discoteca, we were back at 4h.
Today we first checked the bus tour to Uyuni. When we were walking in the streets, we saw some demonstration for the presidential election that will take place on the 6th of December. When we came back we played some billard in the hostel.
In the afternoon we had a nice walk through the markets and the Plazas of this 2 millions habitants city.

At 19h00 we will take a night bus to Uyuni...

Best regards,
Emeric & Maik

Lake Titicaca, 26-27.11.2009

Hola,

We took a night bus going from Cusco to Puno, arriving at 5h30 in the morning. At 1h30 later we took another one going to Copacabana over the Peru-Bolivia frontier.

Copacabana is a small city laying at the Lake Titicaca (about 3800m) on the Bolivian side.

In "Copa", after checking our hostel we spent time at the lake: eating Trucha and drinking beer in small restaurant direct on the see side, swimming the lake temperature in the afternoon is not so cold as we thought, having a walk up to a small montain "Cerro Calvario" dominating the city, so that we could enjoy a nice sunset.

We spent one night in "Copa", the day after we had a boat trip to Isla del Sol (about 2h), staying there few ours.

Coming back in "Copa" we went to the small restaurant again, after a good lunch, we took a bus to La Paz (15 Bolivianos, about 3 hours), sitting near Bolivians families.

Cheers,
Emeric & Maik

Macchu Pichu

Hi,

during the last two days Emeric and me went seperately to Macchu Pichu.
I took a guided trip through the Valle Sagrado (Sacred Valley of the Inkas) to Aguas Calientes, to climb Macchu Pichu the following day. Emeric took several lokal busses to reach Aguas Calientes. Next day we both went up seperately to Macchu Pichu.
Later at night we met again in Cuzco, sharing our experiences of the last two days.

It was an incredible day, seeing the beautiful landscape, the mountains, the ruins.
Hopefully I can upload a few pictures. Internet connections are like Peruvian roads. sometimes they like you, sometimes, they dont...

Next day we take a bus to Copacabana (Lake Titicaca), then we are going to La Paz and to Uyuni.
When we find the first good internet connection, we will show more pics.

Till next time

Maik & Emeric

So, here are a few further pics:

Adventure to Cuzco...

Hi again,

it has been a few days since we last wrote a few words... But there is a reason.
Our plan was to go from Lima directly to Cuzco. But the problem was, that the road close to Abancay was closed and no one could tell us, when it would open again. So we decided to get to take an alternative trip:
First from Lima to Arequipa, then one night later from Arequipa to Cuzco.
In Arequipa we took a Bus to Kolka Canyon starting at 3h in the morning and coming back at 5 in the afternoon. All in all 6 hours of bumping bus because of the road...
At 8h in the afternoon our next bus to Cuzco was planned to departure. This one was cancelled because there were some rocks on the road. So we had to check another company to get a bus taking another route and leaving at the same night. It was an 18h trip. But very comfortable.
Finally we arrived in Cuzco.
As we have a very slow internet connection, we will post pics next time hopefully.

Cheers
Emeric & Maik

Lima 17.11.2009

Hola,
After 12 hours flight from Amsterdam we arrived in Lima at 18h. We had a pìck-up service from the airport which took us on a 50-minutes trip to Miraflores in Lima. We checked into our hostel and directly met other travellers from Russia, who are finishing their round trip Peru and Bolivia. We got some good information about the region and some sights...
As they were finishing their trip yesterday, we had a few drinks together. And after a 24-hours day they really have some effects.
First day in Lima was a walking day, first direction was the bus station to check our trip to Cuzco, then to the city center: Placa de Armas as you can see on the uploaded picture... and a lot of streets and buildings that we could not identify.
During this walk we "gringos" were an attraction for the inhabitants.
So we think next time we might give you a report from Cuzco...
Ciao Emeric&Maik

Last Working Day's Notice

The day has come!
The getting-out-of-bed-alarm bell rang its last ring today in the morning. From now on it will be turned off for four months. And we will enjoy that!
Tonight we're having a few of the last German beers with friends before we switch to Mojito, Pina Colada, Caipirinha, ... And those new friends we will enjoy even more:-)

2 WEEKS TO GO!

It's an incredible feeling only two weeks to go until departure.
Remembering having started organizing and planning our trip in December 2008 it's somehow surreal leaving in such a few days...checking the weather forecast for southamerica every now and then.
